“Ugh, it was a nightmare, you just couldn’t believe it because next to them, we looked fantastic, although I was indeed 40 kilos, and we were like skeletons but next to what they look, we looked fantastic. (Interviewer: What did you see?) People on the street, dead. Crawling. Undescribable. And that was really like a snake pit the whole thing. They just took us and put is in a barracks because we were 300. We were all wherever there was room. If someone died, they put the off on you, you went into their dirty bed. Bed—flat planks on the floor. It was terrible but we were there only for about four to five days before liberation.”
