“There was that “Arbeit macht frei”, you know that slogan. And once the gate was shut, we knew that we were in a concentration camp and we had a shower there. And we knew that the shower was not a good thing. After the shower comes something else. And we were shaven. But somehow nothing happened the next morning and nothing happened the morning after and we got clothes, these stripped things, shaven, everything taken away. Bra, everything, everything. (Interviewer: Were you tattooed?) No, we were not tattooed because we were too many. They just gave us numbers. Perhaps they had the idea that eventually they would tattoo us but we were not tattooed. (Interviewer: Did you know anybody else?) Not in our camp, not in Ravensbruck.”
