“I just wanted to mention about Buchenwald. Don’t take me wrong. Buchenwald was not such a good place to be. There was crematorium. There was a lot of people beaten to death, shot to death and burned to death, but we could smell and we could see the smoke of the crematorium. The only thing I tell you, we were special because we were first coming from Russian prison and we were under the wink of commanders of concentration camps in Buchenwald. And they have the control of us, they took us under the wings. We couldn’t talk to others but we could see, we could hear the barking dogs, we could hear screams, we could hear shots, we could see smoke of the crematorium. So this was going on, terrible things in Buchenwald concentration camp. So we were just lucky that we come from Russian concentration camp, that’s it.”
