Egon Ledec was born in 1889 in the town of Kostelec nad Orlici. Ledec was the assistant concertmaster of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.  In early 1942, he was deported by the Nazis to the Theresienstadt ghetto in Czechoslovakia.  Ledec took part in musical activities in the camp, and even formed a quartet.  The young artist and poet Peter Kien (1919-1944) drew several pictures of Ledec that have survived.  In late 1944, in the final transports from Theresienstadt , Ledec, Kien and many victims including orchestra members, composers and other artists,  were transported to Auschwitz and murdered.
