This video from March 1933 shows huge crowds gathering on the occasion of the wedding of the Munkacs Grand Rabbi’s daughter, Frime Chaye Rivke Shapira to Rabbi Rabinowitz. Rabbi Eleazer Shapira makes a speech in Yiddish urging Jews in America to observe the Sabbath. The wedding party then enters the Synagogue and the wedding concludes with festive Hasidic music. It is estimated that over 20,000 people attended the celebration. The video also includes scenes of Jewish life in Munkacs. Other scenes include secular Jewish children singing, religious children studying at an Orthodox School, a book peddler selling on the streets, and Jews dancing in celebration.
