We are currently accepting resumes for the position of Director of Education at LAMOTH. The Director of Education (DoE) will report directly to our Executive Director and will coordinate with all Museum departments: Visitor Services, Communications, Archive, Library and Historical Curatorship, and Operations and Development. The DoE will work closely with Los Angeles area schools and with our local Holocaust Survivor community. The Director’s overall role is to ensure the success, impact and quality of LAMOTH’s educational programming, both in the Museum and off-site.


Our Museum currently hosts thousands of students and visitors each month and has developed cutting edge programs that strengthen the legacy of memory and fortify the work toward a more just and humane world.

The Director of Education will provide leadership to develop, deliver and evaluate all Museum education programs and services for school groups and adults.  He or she will develop programming to impact both in-house visitors and the broader community.  The Director will supervise the on-site and off-site educational programs in service of the Museum’s education mission and function.

The Director of Education will manage the education staff and volunteers. She/he will directly supervise the Education Coordinator, Receptionist, Holocaust Survivors speakers group, docents, Education interns and volunteers.

The ideal candidate is an experienced educator, with strong knowledge of Jewish and/or Holocaust history, well versed in the principles of museum education and interpretative practices, and is eager to work with a diverse, multicultural and intergenerational audience and community.


We seek someone with at least 5 years work experience in museum education, management or education (with a focus on school and teacher programs) and with experience managing staff and creating programming.


An advanced degree in History, Holocaust Studies, Jewish History, Museum Studies, Museum Education, Education (or a related field) preferred.
