Lya Frank and Henry Slucki

Lya Frank was born in Utrecht, Holland in 1936. She and her sister survived the war in hiding with different families. Their parents and grandparents were killed. Lya is retired from a career in banking and is currently a peer counselor at Wise and Healthy Aging, Santa Monica. She will be accompanied to the reading by one of her "hiding sisters."

Henry Slucki was born in Paris in 1934. He arrived in the United States in 1943 as one of 1,000 evacuated children. He was reunited with his parents in 1946. He currently is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry & The Behavioral Sciences at USC.

John Gordon was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1936. His aunt managed to get a Swedish shutz-pass for him that allowed him to move to a safe house protected by Raoul Wallenberg. After his mother was killed during the war, John was raised by his maternal grandparents. John came to the United States after the Hungarian Revolution and had a career in engineering and business. He was instrumental in the production of "How We Survived." John's story will be read by his grandchildren, Jonas and Augie Blum and Ella Lynch.
