Voices of Survivors
an evening of original theater
The culmination of an eight-week collaborative project between LAMOTH and Santa Monica High School’s Theatre Department, "Voices of Survivors" is an evening of original student theater based on the life stories of four Holocaust Survivors.
Students in Acting Class participated in the LAMOTH Voices of History Theatre Workshop. This program provides workshops on the Holocaust and interviewing techniques led by Museum staff, an in-depth tour of the Museum’s primary sources and galleries, an opportunity to meet with and interview Holocaust Survivors, and professional writing mentorship from Writer’s Room Productions. Students worked together to write, direct, and act in scenes inspired by Survivors' personal experiences during the Holocaust.
The original student production will reflect scenes and themes from the narratives of four Holocaust Survivors: Avraham Perlmutter, David Lenga, Edith Frankie, and Erika Fabian.
