SUMMARY:Let's Talk About It: New Conversations on the Holocaust
DESCRIPTION:Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust is continuing a new monthly program "Let's Talk About It: New Conversations on the Holocaust". This free series will further explore the Holocaust in contemporary contexts. The BYO brown-bag lunch-and-learns will be held at the Museum on the first Friday of the month from 12:00-1:00 PM.
 The program for October will be led by Marcia Rubenstein Perkin. Ms. Rubenstein Perkin is a freelance Holocaust educator and Imperial War Museum Fellow in Holocaust Education.  She also works as a freelance Holocaust educator for the Holocaust Educational Trust in the United Kingdom. Ms. Rubenstein Perkin is currently researching untold family histories from the Holocaust across the UK in order to add a regional and local dimension to Holocaust education.
 Ms. Rubenstein Perkin’s presentation “Holocaust Education in the UK” will examine how the United Kingdom approaches this interesting, yet difficult subject matter.  During this talk Ms. Rubenstein Perkin will discuss the history of Holocaust education, its definition, influences, and who the main players are.  She will also focus on the different challenges educators’ face; from addressing diverse groups, to what age to start teaching children about the Holocaust.  In addition to what lessons educators want students to take away with them.
