The Museum is currently accepting Student Transportation Grant applications for the 2019-2020 school year.

Underfunded schools in Southern California are eligible to receive bus grants on a first-come, first-served, rolling basis.

The Museum is grateful to its supporters for helping us offer not only free tours, but also bus funding to schools. We thank the Thomas Safran family for providing funding for transportation grants for Los Angeles schools, the late civil rights attorney Tom Adler for providing funding for transportation grants for San Diego schools, San Manuel Band of Mission Indians for supporting bus transportation for students from Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, as well as Union Pacific Foundation and Venable Foundation.

Program Guidelines and Instructions:

  • Schools arrange their own transportation and are reimbursed for the grant amount after attending a student tour at the Museum.
  • The grant will not pay for buses and/or cancellation fees/penalties if any group cancels its visit.
  • Please provide a copy of your transportation expense (invoice required) AND proof of your school’s Title I designation OR that 50% of your students qualify for free or reduced lunch to the receptionist on the day of your Museum visit, or within 90 days of your visit. If you do not provide both within the allotted 90 days, we will not be able to reimburse your travel costs.
  • Reimbursements will be mailed within 60 days of the receipt of the transportation invoice and following completion of a post-visit survey. In order to ensure timely payment, please include the details of who the check is payable to and where the reimbursement should be mailed.

To apply for a transportation grant, please complete the online form below (note: if you complete the form below, you do NOT need to also fill out a school reservation request form).
