Join us for an opening reception for our new exhibit, "The Inner World of Ilse Kleinman: Reflections on Oppression," featuring a presentation by the artist's son, Dennis Kleinman, and remarks by art psychotherapist Dr. Esther Dreifus-Kattan.

Artist Ilse Kleinman and her parents fled Berlin in 1933 due to growing antisemitism in Nazi Germany. The family settled in South Africa, where the rise of apartheid reminded Kleinman of the cruelty and dehumanization experienced by Jews during the Holocaust. Her art incorporates Holocaust- and apartheid-related motifs.
